Job summary

HMH in Houston is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. You will assist in the design, development, and testing of electrical control systems used in drilling equipment, gaining hands-on experience on schematic capture, control cabinet design, PLC integration, and lab testing.

Work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to safe and reliable products, and develop practical skills applying classroom knowledge to industry challenges in a dynamic, global company.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited BS/MS in Electrical Engineering.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Ability to collaborate across functions.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook/Teams/Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Willingness to work full-time for 12 weeks (May–Aug 2027).

Responsibilities

• Assist design and documentation of electrical control cabinets, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
• Participate in integration and testing of PLC-based control systems.
• Assist with component selection, spec review, and vendor research for electrical hardware.
• Support lab testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes and production equipment.
• Collect and analyze test data; prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and commissioning teams on cross-functional projects.
