Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group in Oak Brook, IL seeks an Electrical Engineer Co-op or Intern to assist with drawings, calculations, and deliverables for design projects, interfacing with other disciplines to create cohesive packages. Responsibilities include performing limited calculations, developing single-line diagrams, conduit schedules, lighting plans, and contributing to power system studies.

Candidates should be pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering and possess good communication and teamwork

Qualifications

Pursuing BS in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
Effective communication skills to convey ideas clearly.
Ability to work with diverse teams including Nexus and client staff.
Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
Willingness to incorporate feedback for performance improvement.
Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software is preferred.
Familiarity with power system modeling software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower) desirable.

Responsibilities

Complete calculations of limited complexity under supervision (lighting distribution, conduit fills, voltage drop, feeder sizing).
Develop and maintain Electrical SLDs, schematic/interconnection diagrams, conduit schedules, and plans for lighting, grounding, power, controls, and raceways.
Support the development of power system study models for short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and arc flash calculations.
Assist experienced Electrical Engineers with assigned tasks.
