Job summary

CMTA, a Legence Company, offers a hands-on electrical design co‑op for engineering students. You will learn electrical system basics, support power, lighting, and controls design on real CMTA projects, and gain experience in AutoCAD and REVIT.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical or architectural engineering, are in sophomore or junior year, and can work full-time in Columbus during the co‑op term, with local site inspections as needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or a junior (3rd year).
• Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
• AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work full time in the Columbus office throughout the co‑op term, and travel locally for site inspections.

Responsibilities

• Learn and implement the electrical system basics such as power, power distribution, lighting & controls, fire alarm systems for new constructions and renovation design projects while supporting our engineering team.
• Produce detailed layout and equipment details of electrical systems of buildings.
• Produce one-line diagrams/schematics.
• Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings.
• May assist in the data collection and/or field verification.
• Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project.
