Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to design and deliver electrical systems for municipal and industrial water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects. The role emphasizes hands-on technical design, collaboration, and ongoing professional growth within a consulting environment.

This position supports planning, design, and analysis, including one-line diagrams, control schematics, and panel wiring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• EIT certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
• 5+ years of electrical design experience in a consulting environment.
• Experience supporting water, wastewater, or infrastructure projects preferred.
• Familiarity with NEC and NFPA standards.
• Experience with electrical design documents and calculations.
• Experience with power system modeling software (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, and analysis of electrical systems for water, wastewater, and infrastructure facilities.
• Develop deliverables: one-line diagrams, control schematics, panel wiring diagrams.
• Design LV/MV power distribution, lighting, grounding.
• Prepare technical specs, cost estimates, basis-of-design docs.
• Develop construction documents and ensure adherence to standards.
• Perform power system studies (load flow, short-circuit, coordination).
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated project delivery.
• Participate in client meetings and internal design reviews.
• Support construction administration and submittal reviews.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, and project schedules.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

EIT certification

Strong written and verbal communication

US driver’s license

License/licensure path towards PE
