Job summary

Burns & McDonnell's Power global practice seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to join project teams delivering world-class solar power designs for diverse sites. The Staff Electrical Engineer collaborates through design and construction, adapting plans to budget, factors, and client requirements.

Candidates should have ABET-accredited EE degree with 4+ years, or ABET EE Technology with FE and 4 years; master's with 2+ years.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree with 4+ years of experience.
• ABET-accredited EE Technology degree with FE exam and 4 years experience (consulting preferred).
• Master's degree in electrical engineering with 2+ years experience (consulting preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related Engineering Technology with 4+ years of experience in utility-scale solar (>5MW).
• Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including team building and organization.
• EIT preferred; PE license encouraged.
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and 2D/3D rendering tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review electrical drawings.
• Perform cable ampacity and trench design using CYMCAP, ETAP, or AmpCalc.
• Model electrical systems with ETAP or SKM for short circuit, load flow, and arc flash analyses.
• Model grounding system design using CDEGs and WinIGS.
• Design electrical components per project requirements and standards.
• Coordinate with local authorities on permitting requirements.
• Perform field inspections and measurements for project execution.
• Act as field engineer on construction sites.
• Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
