Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support maintenance, repair, and operation of the generation fleet. The role requires deep knowledge of electrical theory, power plant design, and testing equipment around medium to high voltage.

The successful candidate will contribute to safety and quality across diverse generation technologies, including fossil, wind, solar, and battery systems, with opportunities to lead multi-year outage planning and project work.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering or related field.
• Five years of relevant experience in Power Generation or related industry.
• Preferred: 10 years' experience in power generation performing advanced electrical and relay protection work.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership during testing and maintenance of protective electrical systems.
• Develop and implement test plans and procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers, plant personnel, and contractors on complex electrical projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Provide technical support and training to junior technicians.
• Read, interpret, and revise power plant drawings and diagrams.
• Support outage forecasting, maintenance planning, and budget development.
