Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee technical activities, manage engineering resources, and drive continuous improvement across power generation facilities in a defined region. You will provide engineering oversight of plant performance, identify opportunities for process improvements, and support root cause analysis to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering or Technical Degree required.
• 5 years of experience in a power, chemical or industrial plant.
• Overseeing technical or O&M teams (team leader or higher).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical operations at multiple plants to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
• Provide engineering direction to site leadership to optimize equipment availability and reliability.
• Collaborate with corporate engineering, plant personnel, and external firms on complex projects.
• Oversee feasibility reviews of proposed projects and document economic justification.
• Support budgeting and annual spend analyses; assist in capital/expense budgets.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Mentor junior staff and facilitate cross-functional team collaboration.
• Utilize data systems for cost control, asset management, and reporting to executives.
