Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Plant Engineer to lead engineering design, capital projects, environmental and NERC compliance, and maintain support across two sites in the same metro area.

You will troubleshoot equipment, oversee maintenance of DCS/PLC systems, review PM activities, manage contractors, and support budget development.

The role requires a strong electrical/mechanical background and clear communication to management and staff.

Qualifications

• Progressive work experience in electrical power generation (minimum 4 years).
• BS in Engineering preferred; AA or equivalent acceptable with power plant experience.
• Strong knowledge of plant operations, safety, and environmental programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and guidance in resolution/prevention of equipment problems. Lead or participate in RCA and FMEA processes to ensure corrective actions, repairs or modifications are appropriate and timely.
• Work with Maintenance and Operations personnel to evaluate and resolve equipment issues.
• Periodic maintenance and troubleshooting of the facility’s instrument & control equipment including the DCS, MKVe and other programmable logic controllers.
• Provide comprehensive power plant performance leadership and support by analyzing and reporting plant and system performance and condition.
• Develop and/or review the Planned Maintenance activities on all control systems.
• Direct the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Troubleshoot plant issues and determine causes of failure.
• Identify, evaluate and provide solutions to complex technical problems in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager.
• Write project scope and material specifications.
• Provide budgetary support for assigned projects.
