Job summary

Ultimate Staffing is seeking an Equipment Electrical Engineer in Phoenix, AZ to lead electrical and software development for industrial machinery. You will use 2D and 3D CAD to design wiring harnesses, control systems, and electric drive components, and collaborate with sales, customers, and engineering data to translate requirements into robust designs.

You will design, test, and implement wiring harnesses and PLC/HMI control systems, program PLCs, and integrate robotics.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineer degree or equivalent; minimum 2 years of college or trade school, 4 years preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and application in industrial machinery, construction equipment, automotive or aerospace.
• Knowledge of wire harness and connection design and implementation.
• Experience with HMI/PLC programming; IEC61131, SFC, ST, and ladder languages preferred.
• ERP/MRP software experience, SAP preferred.
• Proficient with Windows, Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Proficient with 3D CAD software; Solid Edge preferred; SolidWorks acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings using Solid Edge 3D and AutoCAD 2D per procedures.
• Design new products as directed by Equipment Engineering Manager.
• Design, test, and implement wiring harnesses for machinery.
• Design, program, integrate and test PLC and/or HMI control systems.
• Integrate, develop and program robotic systems.
• Follow product life cycle from research to production to field performance.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customers and staff.
• Specify materials within standard stocking.
• Update drawings due to design or manufacturing changes.
• Complete Engineering Change Notices and circulate docs.
• Produce drawings and schematics from small parts to large assemblies.
• Reduce costs and waste in designs.
• Work on Operator Manuals and other literature.
• Develop and maintain part numbers for purchasing and usage.
• Enter and update Bills of Materials and Manufacturing Routes in SAP.
• Provide monthly project update reports.
• Develop and present quarterly project presentations.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and training.
