Job summary

Arc is electrifying the marine industry. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Torrance office on the Commercial Systems team to design new electric and hybrid propulsion systems for port operations that are cheaper, quieter, and less emissive.

This full-time, on-site role reports to the head of commercial systems and involves translating architectures into hardware, leading panel layouts, and supporting sea trials with travel.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as Electrical Engineer/Automation Engineer or similar role.
• Strong fundamentals in control panel design and low voltage distribution.
• Experience with electrical design software suites (Zuken, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Experience specifying industrial automation and networking hardware (PLCs, IO modules, switches, etc.).
• Experience with industrial/automotive communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, CAN).
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and troubleshooting electrical panels and hardware.

Responsibilities

• Translate high-level control architectures into manufacturable hardware definitions and panel layouts.
• Own IO allocation, schematics, and 2D/3D panel layouts.
• Generate manufacturing data packages including BOMs and wire lists.
• Hands-on wiring, testing, and debugging high/low voltage systems.
• Develop and use bench test systems, ensure parity with production vessels.
• Support sea trials to validate systems and certify them.
• Interface with suppliers, yards, and vessel operators; travel 5-10%.
