Job summary

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is seeking a Journey Level Electrical Engineer to support the integration of Distributed Energy Resources, with a focus on EV infrastructure deployment across SMUD’s distribution system.

You will perform engineering analyses, collaborate with operations and planning teams, and contribute to projects involving solar, storage, microgrids, and bidirectional EV charging to help build a cleaner, resilient energy future for the Sacramento region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• At least 3+ years of experience in design, construction, or maintenance of electrical utility assets.

Responsibilities

• Conduct distribution system impact assessment and modeling for EV and DER integration.
• Forecast load shapes and plan for future system needs.
• Provide engineering support for EV infrastructure deployment and interconnection processes.
• Evaluate interconnection applications and develop technical criteria for DERs.
