Job summary

Shimmick Construction Company is hiring Field Engineer Interns for the Summer 2027 Internship program in Northern California, with locations including San Francisco, Modesto, Santa Cruz and Sacramento. Start is May or June 2027, ending August or September per academic schedules.

Interns will support electrical and civil teams, perform engineering tasks, assist with field inspections, documents and meetings, and gain exposure to budgeting and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with intent to continue enrollment after internship.
• Must have completed at least 1 year of study.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and criteria.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, and visual aids.
• Assist with field inspections and construction administration.
• Support project reporting, budgeting, and documentation.
• Coordinate meetings and maintain project records.
