Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited, an engineering consultancy, seeks an Electrical Engineer to join its Raleigh team, delivering electrical infrastructure for hyperscale data centers and critical facilities across the United States.

This role offers opportunities to work with advanced technologies, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and advance toward senior engineering and project management responsibilities in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 4+ years' experience designing electrical systems for mission critical, data center or large commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of medium voltage, low voltage and critical power distribution.
  • Experience designing UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers and standby power systems.
  • Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD and SKM or ETAP.
  • Understanding of NEC, NFPA 70 and applicable electrical codes.
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • EIT certification preferred; PE licence or ability to obtain is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical power systems for hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data center projects.
  • Produce electrical construction documents including single-line diagrams, power distribution layouts and equipment schedules.
  • Design medium and low voltage distribution systems, UPS systems, standby generators and mission critical infrastructure.
  • Perform load calculations, short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Coordinate designs with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and technology teams.
  • Attend client meetings, design reviews and project coordination sessions.
  • Support construction administration through RFIs, submittal reviews and site visits.
  • Assist with commissioning, system validation and project close-out activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA and client-specific standards.
  • Support junior engineers and contribute to growth of Mission Critical team.

Salary:
