Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Atlanta, GA team. You will lead the electrical design for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centers through concept to commissioning, ensuring high quality and client satisfaction.

You will design MV/LV power distribution, UPS, generators and switchgear, produce construction documents, perform power studies, and collaborate with multi-discipline teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 8+ years designing electrical systems for data centers or similar projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes.
  • PE license required or in progress.
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design of hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centers from concept through construction.
  • Design medium and low voltage power distribution, UPS systems, standby generators, switchgear.
  • Produce and review electrical construction documents and equipment schedules.
  • Perform load, short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Act as technical lead on multiple projects and ensure quality and client standards.
  • Support commissioning and project handover; build client relationships and assist BD.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.

The company is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Atlanta, GA team and take a leading role in the design and delivery of major data center projects. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical design of hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data center projects from concept through construction.
  • Design medium and low voltage power distribution systems, UPS systems, standby generators, switchgear and mission critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Produce and review electrical construction documents including single-line diagrams, power distribution layouts and equipment schedules.
  • Perform or oversee load calculations, short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, structural and technology disciplines to deliver fully integrated project solutions.
  • Act as the technical lead on multiple projects, ensuring quality, accuracy and compliance with client standards.
  • Support construction administration through RFIs, submittal reviews, field observations and technical issue resolution.
  • Participate in commissioning activities and support successful project handover.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development opportunities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of the Mission Critical team.

Skills/Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years' experience designing electrical systems for mission critical, data center or other complex building projects.
  • Strong understanding of medium voltage, low voltage and critical power distribution systems.
  • Experience designing UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, busway and standby power infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and power system analysis software such as SKM or ETAP.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA and applicable electrical codes.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence required or actively pursuing licensure.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, mentor engineers and work directly with clients.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
