Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and development for mission-critical data center environments. The role involves collaboration with internal teams, clients, and contractors while ensuring project specifications are met.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, a PE certification, and at least 6 years of experience in electrical design. Competitive compensation and benefits package offered.

Job description

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design and development of electrical infrastructure and associated systems supporting complex, mission-critical data center environments. This role requires the ability to work independently across corporate offices, remote environments, home offices, and project sites while collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, and construction partners. The ideal candidate will be a flexible and adaptable team player with strong communication skills and a client-focused mindset. As expertise grows in the design and construction of data centers, the Engineer will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and design teams to develop and implement customer electrical design concepts
• Review project documentation, specifications, and technical requirements to support system design development
• Perform electrical distribution calculations and system analysis
• Review drawings, quotations, and technical documents to create and refine electrical system designs
• Revise drawings and designs in response to change orders, project developments, and client requests
• Review and respond to RFIs from construction and installation teams
• Review and evaluate equipment submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications
• Develop conceptual electrical designs based on client meetings and project requirements
• Size and specify electrical equipment to meet project and operational needs
• Apply NFPA standards and applicable building codes throughout the design process
• Support mission-critical and data center electrical infrastructure projects from design through construction

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Architectural Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
• Minimum 6 years of experience in electrical design, project planning, and construction
• Strong experience producing and managing design documentation
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with mission-critical electrical systems including UPS, PDU, generators, and switchgear
• Proficiency with Revit and Procore
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems with an emphasis on data center power distribution infrastructure
• Understanding of drawing standards, modeling organization, and engineering documentation practices
• Knowledge of electrical design processes and construction methodologies for mission-critical/data center projects
