Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking an Electrical Engineer I for our Madison office to design energy‑efficient building solutions, sizing systems, and selecting equipment while supporting field surveys and drawings.

You will work with mentors and, over time, lead electrical project teams, develop specifications, and participate in client meetings. The role emphasizes growth through on‑the‑job guidance, collaboration with designers, and involvement in high‑impact projects across

Qualifications

  • BSEE/BSAE from ABET accredited school.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Non-academic internship.
  • Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities preferred.
  • EIT certification (FE exam) a plus.
  • Internship in MEP consulting engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform load calculations and determine system sizing and layouts.
  • Calculate equipment sizes and select equipment.
  • Complete field surveys and review equipment shop drawings.
  • Lead electrical project teams and write specifications as experience grows.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients and other consultants.
  • Support construction‑phase work.

Electrical Engineer I in our Madison office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

Here’s Why We Need You

In this role, you will initially work with and be mentored by experienced engineers and will yourself help to mentor designers. Your initial assignments will include performing load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings. As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading electrical project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction-phase work.

Expertise Of Our Most Successful Electrical Engineer I
  • BSEE/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Non-academic internship.
  • Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
  • EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
  • Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.
