Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in Detroit seeks an Electrical Engineer I to support energy-efficient building projects. You will be mentored by experienced engineers and contribute to load calculations, equipment sizing, layouts, and field surveys.

You will grow into leading electrical project teams, writing specifications, participating in client meetings, and supporting construction-phase work on high-impact projects across healthcare, science, and technology sectors.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSEE/BSAE degree required.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Internships in the MEP consulting field preferred.
• EIT certification (FE) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations and determine system sizing and layouts.
• Calculate equipment sizes and select equipment.
• Complete field surveys and review equipment shop drawings.
• Lead electrical project teams and write specifications as you gain experience.
• Participate in project meetings with clients and other consultants; support construction-phase work.

As an Electrical Engineer I in our Detroit office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

Here’s Why We Need You

In this role, you will initially work with and be mentored by experienced engineers and will yourself help to mentor designers. Your initial assignments will include performing load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings. As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading electrical project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction-phase work.

Expertise Of Our Most Successful Electrical Engineer I

• BSEE/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.
