Job summary

Arup Houston/Austin offices seek an Electrical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team. This role focuses on designing electrical systems for buildings, including power, lighting, and life-safety, while collaborating across disciplines to deliver coordinated designs.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience, familiarity with codes, and hands-on experience with Revit MEP, SKM/ETAP, and lighting tools. EIT certification is a plus as you progress toward PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, architectural, building services engineering, or a related degree.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience designing electrical systems for buildings.
• Familiarity with applicable local codes and standards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based work.
• Experience with 3D BIM software, Revit MEP.
• Experience with power system calculation software such as SKM or ETAP.
• Knowledge of lighting design software such as AGi32, Dialux etc.
• Experience working on Healthcare and Data Center projects.
• EIT certification and working towards Professional Engineer’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support the design of electrical systems for projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, grounding and bonding, lightning protection.
• Conduct electrical system calculations such as demand load, short circuit, voltage drop and photometric calculations.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines and project managers to deliver design deliverables.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, reports, and presentation materials with sustainable design methods.
• Present technical material for review by technical and non-technical audiences.
• Review RFIs and submittals from site and perform construction administration activities.
• Design electrical systems for healthcare and data center projects.
