Job summary

WEG Electric Corp in McHenry, IL is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our DC products division (RAE DC). The role focuses on design of motors to customer specs, support of mature products, and improving existing systems.

Candidates should hold a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years in PMDC and wound-field DC motors, experience with DC motor control, and familiarity with motor design software. Travel flexibility required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' experience in PMDC and wound-field DC motors design.
• Experience with DC motor control - SCR, PWM, open and closed loop control.
• Knowledge of BLDC motor design.
• Motor design software experience (e.g., SPEED, Infolytica, ANSYS RMxprt).
• Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with SAP - PLM is desirable.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design new electric motors to meet customer specifications.
• Run dynamometer tests to validate new products and design improvements.
• Provide customer support for existing products.
• Evaluate existing motor designs to improve manufacturability.
• Elaborate/maintain technical engineering specifications for manufacturing and sales.
• Collaborate with engineers and departments to improve products and solve issues.
• Lead projects to improve engineering tools and processes.
• Evaluate/approve new materials/parts for development.
• Provide technical support to other functional areas as needed.
