Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking engineers to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems, driving retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities include designing and testing LV/MV paralleling controls, converting legacy PLC programs, and developing HMI applications while collaborating with CAD teams and field personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and field support.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with dealer and factory teams.
• Design, program, test, and commission LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance on new platforms.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Assess technical risk and support field performance of projects.
• Provide escalation support to sales and product support teams.
• Submit project docs, reports, and expenses promptly.
• Train technicians and customers on maintenance and operation.
