Job summary

Johnson Controls in New Freedom, PA seeks an Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical design of air- and water-cooled chillers and to support production, laboratories, service, applications, and marketing teams globally.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and 1–3 years of panel design experience, with up to 10% travel. Relocation packages are offered; sponsorship is not available for this position; US citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
• 1-3 years of system level electrical and panel design.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (US Citizenship and/or Permanent Residents only).
• Experience in engineer-to-order or made-to-order environments.
• Working knowledge of chiller control systems, electrical controls, system integration, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating, reviewing, and maintaining electrical drawings and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Define, interpret, and implement design solutions ensuring alignment with performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
• Drive the development and sustainment of electrical systems for air-cooled screw/scroll and water-cooled chiller platforms across design, testing, implementation, and lifecycle activities.
• Own global engineering documentation, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables supporting design, manufacturing, and product sustainment.
• Evaluate design proposals for electrical power panels, control panel, VFD, and wire harness designs to ensure UL/NEC/CSA/CE compliance.
• Develop and implement repeatable workflows to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, providing technical direction and alignment for project execution.
• Apply standard mathematical principles and continuously increase expertise in chiller electrical design.
