Job summary

GPI, a multi-discipline engineering firm, seeks an Electrical Engineer to design electrical building systems for a variety of facilities across the United States. You will prepare calculations, specifications, and reports while coordinating with a wide project team.

You will develop power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, and life-safety designs, and mentor junior staff while advancing sustainable design goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years designing electrical systems for buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of building and electrical codes and standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is needed.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • EIT preferred; PE license or ability to obtain is desirable.

What You’ll Do:
  • Design electrical building systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, educational, and government facilities.
  • Prepare electrical calculations, technical specifications, construction documents, and engineering reports.
  • Develop power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, and life safety system designs.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and civil project team members.
  • Participate in client meetings, field investigations, and construction administration activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers while supporting project delivery goals.
  • Contribute to innovative and sustainable design solutions that improve building performance and energy efficiency.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, and industry standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • EIT certification preferred; PE license or ability to obtain is highly desirable.
  • A proactive attitude and desire to grow professionally while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
