Job summary

GPI, a multi-discipline engineering firm, is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Site Engineer to join our team nationwide. You will work on land development, transportation, municipal, and infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience in site design, grading, drainage, and utility design under supervision.

You will use AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools, collaborate with senior engineers, and contribute to permits, reports, and construction support while pursuing licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
• Internship, co-op, or relevant engineering experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Civil site development, grading, drainage, and utility design.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, design, and development of site engineering projects (commercial, residential, transportation, municipal).
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specs, and reports under supervision of senior engineers.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop site plans and construction documents.
• Support grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and roadway design efforts.
• Coordinate with project managers and surveyors; participate in meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning, design, and development of site engineering projects, including commercial, residential, transportation, and municipal projects.
• Prepare engineering design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Utilize design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop site plans and construction documents.
• Support grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, erosion and sediment control, and roadway design efforts.
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and surveyors.
• Perform site visits and field inspections to collect data, evaluate existing conditions, and monitor construction progress.
• Assist with permit applications and regulatory submissions.
• Review construction documents and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical problem-solving discussions.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
• Internship, co-op, or relevant engineering experience is a plus.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, site development, grading, drainage, and utility design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to land development, transportation, water resources, or municipal engineering projects.
• Experience with stormwater modeling software such as HydroCAD is a plus.
• Understanding of local, state, and federal permitting processes.
• Desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
