Job summary

Saronic in Austin is seeking an Electrical Engineer, Platforms to lead the design, specification, and validation of vessel power systems for autonomous platforms operating in harsh environments. You will create one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams, perform EPLAs and voltage drop calculations, and collaborate with mechanical, software, and autonomy teams to ensure reliable integration.

The role includes supporting prototype builds, dockside and at-sea trials, and mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Experience designing or specifying electrical power systems for marine or rugged platforms.
• Familiarity with fieldbus protocols (Ethernet, CAN, RS485, RS232).
• Experience with reliability analysis tools such as FMEA, FTA, or reliability block diagrams.
• Ability to document design decisions and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, specification, and validation of power generation and distribution systems for autonomous maritime platforms.
• Create drawings such as one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform power system analyses (load, short-circuit, voltage drop) and reviews.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and autonomy teams to ensure reliable integration.
• Support prototype builds, dockside and at-sea trials.
• Mentor junior engineers in power system fundamentals and ruggedization techniques.
