Position Overview

This role is ideal for an engineer with approximately 3-5years of electrical design experience who is actively pursuing a PE license or has already obtained licensure. The selected candidate will support the design and execution of large-scale electrical infrastructure projects focused on medium-voltage power systems, data centers, industrial facilities, and other mission-critical environments.

The engineer will lead project-level engineering efforts, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the design of reliable and resilient electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical power systems.
• Perform power system studies including:
  • Short circuit analysis
  • Arc flash studies
  • Coordination studies
  • Power quality assessments
• Develop electrical distribution designs including switchgear, protective relaying, UPS systems, generators, and backup power infrastructure.
• Design power systems supporting mission-critical facilities and large-scale data center environments.
• Support electrical infrastructure projects within industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, laboratory, and commercial facilities.
• Develop single-line diagrams, grounding systems, load calculations, cable sizing, equipment specifications, and power system studies.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and construction teams throughout project execution.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
• Participate in project planning, engineering reviews, commissioning activities, and client coordination.
• Provide technical guidance on smaller projects and mentor junior engineers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical power system design.
• PE license or active pursuit of professional licensure.
• Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution equipment, including:
  • Switchgear
  • UPS systems
  • Backup generators
  • Protective relays
  • Power monitoring systems
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and related industry standards.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required Technical Experience

Candidates should have experience with:

• Medium-voltage and low-voltage power systems
• Short circuit studies
• Arc flash analysis
• Power quality analysis
• UPS and backup power systems
• Electrical infrastructure within data centers, industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, laboratories, healthcare facilities, or other critical infrastructure environments

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• Mission-critical and data center facilities
• Industrial manufacturing environments
• Healthcare and hospital systems
• Research and laboratory facilities
• Utility or power generation projects
• Federal government projects
• Large-scale infrastructure programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Data center electrical infrastructure experience
• Mission-critical facility design experience
• Federal project experience
• Experience with SEL protective relays
• Familiarity with ETAP, SKM Power Tools, AutoCAD, or similar design software
• Project leadership experience

Location & Travel

• Candidates should be located in Virginia or be willing to relocate.
• Initial onboarding and team integration will occur in Northern Virginia.
• Long-term project support will be based in Central Virginia.
• Candidates in select Southeast markets may also be considered.
• Occasional travel to project sites will be required.
