Job summary

X4 Engineering is hiring an Electrical Engineer to support multiple projects across medium- and high-voltage power systems. You will lead electrical design activities, develop design packages, and collaborate with clients, designers, and utility providers to ensure compliant, timely deliverables.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, hands-on power studies with ETAP/SKM, and strong communication skills. PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support multiple engineering projects across medium- and high-voltage power systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing detailed electrical engineering activities, working closely with electrical designers, project managers, clients, and utility providers. The role requires strong experience with MV/HV electrical design, substations, switchgear, transmission systems, power system studies, and utility coordination.

You will manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring designs are technically accurate, compliant with applicable standards, and delivered in line with client schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute electrical engineering activities across multiple projects.
• Develop electrical design packages and RFQ packages for client projects.
• Design and specify medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, substations, transformers, transmission systems, motor control equipment, and associated infrastructure.
• Perform arc flash, load flow, short-circuit, and coordination studies using ETAP and/or SKM.
• Cable tray layouts and cable schedules
• Grounding and lighting plans
• Relay settings and protection requirements
• Area classification drawings
• Electrical equipment specifications
• Perform transmission cable tension calculations and load flow studies.
• Review equipment specifications and installation requirements for electrical equipment.
• Coordinate directly with clients and utility power providers regarding electrical service and project requirements.
• Apply relevant industry codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, and API.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to electrical designers.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and other client deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to manage project schedules, technical issues, and deliverables.
• Ensure electrical designs and installations meet client requirements, engineering standards, and applicable safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Strong experience with medium- and high-voltage power systems, including substations, switchgear, and transmission/distribution equipment.
• Experience with low-voltage systems, motor starters, VFDs, transformers, protection equipment, and associated electrical systems.
• Hands-on experience performing power system studies using ETAP and/or SKM.
• Experience coordinating with utilities and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead technical meetings and presentations.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
