Job summary

Civil and Environmental Consultants in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the MIS team to design and deliver state‑of‑the‑art facilities across industrial markets.

You'll work under senior engineers, develop layouts, perform power studies, and mentor others while contributing to procurement and project coordination. A hybrid schedule and comprehensive benefits are offered along with professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.) preferred.
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience on industrial/manufacturing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA/NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API and ASI).
  • Experience with electrical distribution systems at low/medium voltages.
  • Experience with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Bluebeam is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform field/site visits and travel (~10%).

Responsibilities

  • Possess an understanding of the NEC.
  • Work under a senior engineer to develop electrical layouts, single line diagrams, wiring, conduit, cable tray, lighting and grounding drawings.
  • Generate electrical equipment and construction specifications.
  • Develop power studies and short‑circuit analysis using ETAP or SKM.
  • Provide quality oversight for electrical designs.
  • Act as the main contact for the electrical discipline in project meetings.
  • Train and mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate details with other disciplines and generate hour estimates.

Overview

Electrical Engineer role within the Manufacturing Infrastructure Services (MIS) team, located in Pittsburgh, PA. This position provides the opportunity to design and deliver state‑of‑the‑art facilities across industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas, real estate, solid waste, power, and public sector markets. Candidates should be self‑motivated, possess strong communication skills, and be passionate about applying professional experience in a team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Possess an understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Work under the supervision of a senior engineer to:
    • Develop electrical equipment layout, single line, interconnecting wiring, embedded conduit, cable tray, heat trace, lighting, and grounding drawings.
    • Generate electrical equipment and construction specifications.
    • Develop power studies, including short‑circuit analysis and incident energy calculations using ETAP or SKM software.
  • Provide quality oversight for electrical designs performed by others.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the electrical discipline in meetings with the project manager, other discipline leads, and the customer.
  • Train and mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate details and miscellaneous design criteria with other disciplines.
  • Generate electrical engineering hour estimates to complete ongoing work and for new proposals.

  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering on industrial or manufacturing projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA/NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API and ASI).
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical distribution systems at low and medium voltages.
  • Experience using design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Bluebeam is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to perform field/site visits.
  • Ability to travel (estimated travel time 10%).
