Job summary

CTCIA is seeking a lead electrical engineer in Houston to guide a team of engineers and designers, ensuring electrical work aligns with project schedules, budgets, and client standards. You will interface with the PM team, review technical deliverables, apply NEC/NFPA/IEEE codes, and oversee calculations, schematics, and data sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with project management and discipline management to ensure execution aligns with company standards.
  • Prepare, review and PE seal of drawings, load lists, calculations, schematics, data sheets, and requisitions.
  • Develop lighting, grounding, and power plans with cable and panel schedules; prepare wiring diagrams.
  • Develop hazardous area classifications with safety group.
  • Collaborate with procurement for requisitions, bids, and PO packages.
  • Develop material and man-hour estimates and contribute to project scheduling.

Job description

The candidate will be the lead engineer on projects and oversee a group of engineers and designers. They will interface with the PM team to ensure that electrical is delivered on schedule and budget meeting CTCI and client standards.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the project management and discipline management to ensure that execution of work coincides the company standard practices and procedures.
  • Prepare, review and Approval (PE Seal) of one lines, load list, system calculations, sizing calculations, schematics, equipment specifications, data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid analysis.
  • Work with design team to develop lighting, grounding, and power plans along with cable schedules, panel schedules, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Develop hazardous area classification drawings in conjunction with the process safety group
  • Work with procurement to generate requisitions, technical bid tabs, and PO packages for electrical equipment, and with expediting after orders are placed.
  • Develop material and man hour estimates
  • Provide input into the project schedule and progressing
  • Interface with other disciplines for a coordinated design

Required Skills

  • Perform calculations using ETAP/SKM and write reports
  • Apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE and other applicable codes to the design
  • Specify high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment
  • Must be able to read P&IDs
  • Ability to lead and interact with engineers and designers and set clear work expectations
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to manage, scope, schedule, and budget on project(s)
  • Familiar with electrical construction techniques, installation practices and commissioning

Education and Experience

  • BSEE from an accredited college or university
  • 10 + years’ experience in electrical engineering
  • Licensed PE required.
