Job description

Our Pittsburgh office is looking to hire an Electrical Department Manager to lead our growing team. In this position, you will oversee the full scope of project deliverables, including delegating tasks, performing calculations, reviewing designs, and allocating resources to effectively lead the team of engineers and designers on multiple projects within the critical infrastructure industry.

To do well in this role, you must have experience designing and implementing heavy industrial facility electrical systems. It is preferred that you are a licensed professional engineer and have extensive experience as an electrical engineer, conforming to the following responsibilities and requirements.

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities
  • Designing, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment, products, or systems for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience working in heavy industrial facilities and performing field investigations and assessments.
  • Ability to complete low & medium voltage power systems, instrumentation, and controls designs.
  • Working knowledge of Power System analysis software such as ETAP and/or SKM.
  • Protective Device Relay configuration/programming experience is a plus.
  • Performing a wide range of engineering tasks via computer-assisted design or other engineering software and equipment.
  • Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
  • Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Supervising or training project team members.
  • Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.
  • Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products.
  • Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
  • Define customer needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design and apply new system processes.
  • Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets.
Electrical Engineer Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • 5-10+ years relevant work experience, including internship or cooperative program experience.
  • Professional Engineering License is highly preferred (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and IEEE standards.
  • Proficient in design and calculation software.
  • Proven expertise as an electrical engineer.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20%.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
