Job summary

HWC Engineering in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support its Water Resources team. You will design power distribution, motor control, lighting, and instrumentation for water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities, and develop electrical drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.

You will perform load calculations, coordinate SCADA/instrumentation needs, and prepare bidding documents while ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, and Life Safety Codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 3-5+ years of electrical engineering and design experience for water, wastewater, stormwater facilities
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design
• Strong understanding of electrical systems including lighting and power distribution
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, Life Safety Codes and related codes
• Attention to detail and good time-management skills

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design power distribution, motor control, lighting, and instrumentation systems for water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities, including treatment plants, pump stations, and lift stations.
• Develop electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and circuiting for process and facility electrical systems.
• Work with SCADA and instrumentation systems, coordinating electrical infrastructure with controls and automation needs.
• Prepare bidding documents and construction specifications for municipal water and wastewater projects.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the NEV and other applicable codes and utility standards.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; experience with water/wastewater or other heavy industrial facilities preferred.
• 3-5+ years of experience in electrical engineering and design, providing electrical and instrumentation designs for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, including lighting and power distribution systems.
• Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Life Safety Codes, and other related codes.
• Ability to think critically, manage time, and solve problems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
