Job summary

Rochester Sensors, an Amphenol Company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Coppell, TX team. This role focuses on designing new printed circuit boards and upgrading existing ones to improve cost, availability, and performance.

The ideal candidate will perform design, build, test, troubleshoot, and repair tasks, supporting engineering from concept through production. Collaboration with external labs and customers is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of electronics design and testing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of test equipment and its operation.

ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURING ENGINEER I

THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. MUST BE LOCATED IN THE DFW AREA.

OVERVIEW

Responsible for the design of new printed circuit boards based on customer requirements and upgrading existing printed circuit boards based on cost to availability concerns. Perform design engineering support as well as diversified design, building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing duties to assist the department manager in carrying out assigned department responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains documentationin accordance withquality assurance standards.
  • Preparesdocuments for department manager review and approval including, but not limited to design support, engineering requests, test plans and reports, data sheets, APQP documentation, test equipment design, construction and repair, and reviews/evaluates new or modified designs and competing products.
  • Supports the design of new electronic and sensor products or modifications of existing electronic and sensor products to meet the needs of customers.
  • Constructs prototypes and pre-production samples of new or modified products.
  • Designs, constructs and troubleshoots fixtures and test equipment to support manufacturing.
  • Orders parts and supplies as required for supporting projects.
  • Works with outside consultants and test labs to complete projects.
  • Prepares specifications, control plans, technical data sheets, test plans, and test products and prepares test reports to support design and development engineering for internal and external use.
  • Writes technical data sheets for internal and external use.
  • Works with customers to coordinate new work, resolves complaints or difficulties.
  • Assists in preparation and checking of engineering drawings and any other documentation required to support product Engineering, Production and Maintenance.
  • Creates schematics; generates Gerber files as required for new PCB applications including drill plans, silkscreens and bill of materials. Knowledge of CAD tools required.
  • Compiles parts lists, orders components, assembles and tests prototype PCB assemblies.
  • Performs analysis, simulations and testing of electronic systems and prepares corrective actions as needed.
  • Provides technical specifications and drawings for procuring PCB assemblies for new products
  • Prepares engineering requests as required for product maintenance.
  • Evaluates competing products for quality and reliability.
  • Assist others in meeting all customer requirements and expectations.
  • Maintains work area in clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates
  • Serves on related committees and participates in meetings as required.
  • Actively supports the defined goals and objectives of the company.
  • Projects a professional, total-quality image in all aspects of this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of electronics design and testing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of test equipment and its operation
  • Familiar with DMM, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Power Supplies (both low and high voltage), and any other equipment required to complete daily duties
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PCB Schematic and Layout Software
  • Familiar with AutoCAD or similar drafting software for drawing creation.
  • Good reading, writing and verbal skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting to component level (analog/digital circuit troubleshooting, microprocessor circuits, power supplies, etc.) with minimal assistance.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor programming using C compiler preferred
  • Proven experience of PCB rework with thru-hole and SMD electronic components.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written business communication skills.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Up to 10% travel may be required
