Job summary

Widseth in Minnesota seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and deliver electrical building systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial projects. You will develop construction documents, perform power distribution and lighting design, coordinate with architects and clients, and mentor junior staff while ensuring code compliance.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in EE, a MN PE license (ND licensure possible), 7+ years of experience, and proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SKM

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• MN PE license and ability to obtain licensure in North Dakota within six months.
• 7+ years of experience designing electrical building systems.
• Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, or municipal building projects.
• Proficiency with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IEEE, and other applicable codes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for building projects across commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial, and public sectors.
• Develop construction documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Perform power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage system design.
• Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, owners, and other disciplines.
• Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observations.
• Collaborate with project managers to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Apply codes and standards to ensure safe, compliant designs.
• Assist with proposals, client meetings, and technical presentations.
• Provide guidance and support to junior staff and EITs.

What You'll Do

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
• Minnesota Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to obtain licensure in North Dakota within six months
• 7+ years of experience designing electrical building systems (adjust years as appropriate)
• Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, or municipal building projects
• Proficiency with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, or similar tools
• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative environment
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
