Job summary

Widseth is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work on diverse building projects, from initial concept to construction. You’ll develop power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial facilities.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with architects and clients, and ensure designs meet NEC/NFPA/IBC/IEEE standards. A MN PE license and ability to obtain licensure in North Dakota within six months are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing electrical building systems.
• Proficiency with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial, and public-sector building projects.
• Develop construction documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Perform power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage system design.
• Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, owners, and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observations.
• Collaborate with project managers to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Apply applicable codes and standards to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant designs.
• Assist with project proposals, client meetings, and technical presentations.
• Provide guidance and support to junior engineering staff and EITs.
