Job Description

This role focuses on electrical and low-voltage design for fire alarm and related systems, producing accurate drawings and documentation for a wide range of commercial and institutional projects. You will either bring experience as an electrical/low voltage designer with strong AutoCAD skills or as a fire alarm technician who is comfortable finalizing wiring schematics and low-voltage designs. You will contribute to high-quality custom panels and annunciators used in complex facilities such as high-rise buildings, convention centers, and schools, working in a quiet, small-office environment with individual ownership of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update electrical and low-voltage design drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Finalize wiring schematics and low-voltage design documentation for fire alarm and related systems.
  • Translate fire alarm system concepts into clear, detailed electrical and low-voltage design plans.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project specifications for fire alarm annunciators, custom control panels, jail panels, smoke control panels, and graphic maps.
  • Support the design and documentation of driver systems within fire alarm and low-voltage projects.
  • Incorporate understanding of electronic circuitry into design work to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Review and refine existing drawings and schematics to meet quality standards and client expectations.
  • Maintain organized project files and design records for both local and international projects.
  • Learn and, over time, utilize metallics software to assist in finalizing designs and schematics, as needed.
  • Work independently on assigned projects, managing your own workload without micromanagement while meeting deadlines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and documentation standards.
  • Participate in obtaining and applying relevant certificates for projects, supporting compliance and quality assurance.

Essential Skills

  • Familiarity with metallics software or similar design/finalizing tools (not required but a plus).
  • Background in designing or supporting fire alarm annunciators, custom control panels, jail panels, smoke control panels, or graphic maps.
  • Experience with projects in high-rise buildings, convention centers, schools, or other complex facilities.
  • Commitment to learning and obtaining additional certificates related to project work.
  • Ability to thrive in a small, family-oriented company environment with long‑tenured team members.
