Job summary

Actalent, Roanoke, VA, is hiring an Electrical Designer responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings and design packages in a collaborative, technically focused environment. You will interpret bid letters and customer drawings, perform engineering calculations, and develop BOMs alongside drawings.

The role requires proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit, strong Word/Excel documentation skills, and the ability to travel occasionally to project sites. This is an onsite position in Roanoke.

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing detailed electrical drawings and documentation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit for creating/modifying design drawings.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems and standard engineering calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings with high accuracy and compliance.
• Interpret bid letters, specs, and customer drawings to develop complete design packages.
• Perform standard engineering calculations (AC service, HVAC, energy load, structure) to support design decisions.
• Develop work orders and BOMs alongside drawing production.
• Provide technical support to factory personnel, sales teams, and customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
• Travel occasionally to support projects or internal teams.
• Perform other duties as needed by the department manager.
