Job summary

Sedgman seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to produce detailed electrical drawings for mining process projects using AutoCAD and Plant 3D. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams on EPCM projects and ensure accuracy to Sedgman standards.

Requires 5–7 years' experience with 2D/3D electrical designs, single line diagrams, and control panels. Join a team delivering complex infrastructure with emphasis on precision and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience on projects ranging from conceptual design to detailed engineering.
• Experience creating 2D electrical drawings and 3D modeling, including tray layout and lighting.
• Electrical design experience in industrial, utility, municipal, and/or commercial projects.
• Experience in AutoCAD and Plant 3D is a prerequisite.
• Navisworks, Autodesk Vault, Bluebeam, or Adobe Acrobat would be an asset.
• Associate Diploma in CAD or other formal training certificates.
• 5–7 years’ experience using AutoCAD and Plant 3D.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders.
• Ability to convert engineering concepts into 3D designs.
• Strong attention to detail and precision in checking drawings for errors.
• Skills in MS Office Suite.
• Some knowledge of codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical design drawings and layouts for mining process projects using AutoCAD and Plant 3D.
• Contribute to the development and success of project 3D models.
• Produce single line diagrams.
• Produce motor control center arrangements, motor controls, and schematics.
• Produce panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable terminations, and junction boxes.
• Produce instrument loop diagrams.
• Produce electrical room and substation layouts.
• Produce grounding plans.
• Produce lighting layouts and cable and cable tray routing.
• Translate engineering concepts into detailed drawings.
• Collaborate with engineers, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary mechanical, structural, and process teams on EPCM projects.
• Ensure design accuracy and uphold Sedgman standard specifications, typical/standard drawings, processes, and procedures.
• Participate in the entire design process.
• Provide input for software development to enhance drafting practices.
