American Electric Power Co. seeks an Electrical Designer Intern for a Roanoke, VA on-site internship. You will develop CAD skills by creating and updating 3D inventory parts, assemblies, and 2D AutoCAD Electrical drawings, laying a strong groundwork for your engineering career.

This role uses Autodesk products—AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, Vault—and Microsoft Office. Applicants should be pursuing an AAS in drafting/CAD or related engineering technology with a 3.0+ GPA and December 2027

Qualifications

Completed at least one year toward an associate degree in drafting and CAD or in civil, structural, electrical or mechanical engineering technology or design.
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Graduation date of December 2027 or later.

Responsabilités

Create, revise and maintain engineering and record drawings, and sketches.
Support the creation, revision, and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents and records.
Obtain information from verbal communication, sketches, marked drawings, listings, field notes, vendors' catalogs and site visits.
Perform mathematical calculations required to accomplish assigned work.
Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, Vault).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Read vendor prints and drawings and incorporate information into work.
Demonstrate ethical behavior as outlined in corporate policies.
Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
