Job summary

LVI Associates is a nationwide, employee-owned MEP engineering firm hiring an Electrical Designer to develop electrical building system designs for commercial, institutional, healthcare and educational projects. You will work with engineers to prepare construction documents and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Architectural Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years building electrical systems design experience.
  • Knowledge of distribution, lighting, emergency power, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience performing electrical calculations and equipment selection.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Position Overview

The Electrical Designer will work alongside engineering teams to develop electrical building system designs for a variety of commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, and other facility projects. This individual will contribute throughout the design process, prepare construction documents, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support project delivery from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design of complete building electrical systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and client requirements
  • Perform electrical load calculations, equipment selection, system layouts, and design coordination
  • Design power distribution, lighting, grounding, emergency power, and low-voltage systems
  • Support specialty systems design including fire alarm, telecommunications, nurse call, and related technologies
  • Prepare detailed construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders throughout the design process
  • Participate in quality reviews to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance
  • Provide technical support during project development and construction phases
  • Collaborate with clients to evaluate design options and develop effective engineering solutions
Qualifications
