Key Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and mission-critical facilities.
- Prepare construction documents, including power plans, lighting plans, one-line diagrams, schedules, details, and specifications.
- Perform electrical load calculations and equipment sizing for power distribution systems, switchgear, switchboards, panels, generators, conductors, and feeders.
- Develop lighting designs, photometric calculations, emergency lighting systems, and energy code-compliant solutions.
- Assist with or lead studies involving fault current analysis, breaker coordination, and arc flash considerations.
- Conduct code research and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, and structural teams throughout project development.
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers while supporting project delivery objectives.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical design for building systems within a consulting engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.
- Working knowledge of NEC and applicable building and energy codes.
- Experience preparing construction documents and coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- EIT certification preferred; PE license or path toward licensure highly desirable.
