Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead power systems for telecom infrastructure across Randburg, Gauteng. You will design, analyze, and validate electrical networks for base stations, data centers, and fiber optic sites, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires 7+ years in electrical design, ECSA registration preferred, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and guide junior engineers through detailed

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or EIT) preferred.
7+ years of experience in electrical design, focused on telecom infrastructure or critical facilities.
Experience designing power systems for outdoor and indoor telecom equipment.
Knowledge of SANS and international telecom standards.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical design for telecommunication sites—power supply, UPS, generators, earthing.
Create detailed schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring layouts.
Specify transformers, switchgear, rectifiers, batteries.
Perform load calculations and power quality analysis; assess site suitability.
Ensure designs meet telecom standards, codes, and safety regulations.
Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and network engineers for integrated systems.
Review designs from junior engineers and external consultants.
Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning.
Conduct site surveys and audits for compliance and issues.
Contribute to development of electrical standards and best practices.
