Job summary

gpac is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a manufacturing engineering team in Minnesota. The role involves designing electrical systems, PCB/schematics, and ensuring designs are manufacturable and testable for scale-up.

Responsibilities include development of electrical schematics, control systems, wiring harnesses, and PCB layouts, plus DFMs, prototyping, testing, and documentation. Collaboration with mechanical and manufacturing teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Altium Designer, OrCAD, or SolidWorks Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Product Development: Design and develop electrical schematics, control systems, wiring harnesses, and PCB layouts.
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Optimize electrical designs for production efficiency, cost reduction, and high assembly yields.
• Prototyping & Testing: Build, test, and troubleshoot electrical prototypes, develop test fixtures, and analyze performance data.
• Documentation: Create and maintain BOMs, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing engineers to integrate electrical components into broader product designs.
• Production Support: Support legacy and new product lines by evaluating component obsolescence, root-cause failure analysis, and continuous quality improvements.
• Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs adhere to industry safety standards and regulatory requirements.
