Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions in the United States is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our evolving nuclear market. The role emphasizes safe, cost‑effective, and innovative electrical design, collaborating with multi‑discipline teams to deliver client‑focused solutions.

Requirements include a ABET/Electrical Engineering degree, 5+ years of design experience in industrial or nuclear power projects, and a PE license or ability to obtain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5+ years in electrical system design for industrial or nuclear power plant projects.
  • Proficient in selecting equipment and materials.
  • Experienced in preparing engineering design packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Skilled in designing low and medium voltage distribution systems (e.g., transformers, generators, motors, relays).

Responsibilities

  • Power System Studies: Conduct and review detailed AC/DC calculations using ETAP, including short circuit, voltage drop, arc-flash, motor starting, and relay coordination.
  • Procurement & Vendor Support: Develop and review equipment specifications; participate in bid evaluations and manage vendor Q&A tracking.
  • Design Development: Prepare scoping documents and perform constructability reviews; design and review lighting, communications, and security systems.
  • Collaboration & Client Interface: Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams; engage with clients and implementation personnel.
  • Travel: Visit client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews and construction coordination.
