Brazos Electric Power Cooperative in Texas is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design and maintain protective relay and substation systems, ensuring reliable power delivery to member cooperatives and communities.
You will analyze drawings, specifications, and system data; troubleshoot protection systems; and work with contractors and staff to plan cost-effective upgrades. A BS in EE (ABET) and knowledge of three-phase power are preferred.

Prepare, analyze, and check engineering drawings, specifications and system data to determine design factors on specific projects requiring protection related equipment including, but not limited to, protective relays, transformers, circuit breakers, motor operators, substation control house equipment, protection related communications equipment, protection related automation equipment, protection related cybersecurity equipment, and general electrical miscellaneous equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot protection related systems to support operational modifications, repairs, or enhancements. Maintain relationships with external contractors, consultants and member cooperative personnel to coordinate job related activities
Plan and develop enhancements to specific protection and control systems. Assist in project management by performing detailed engineering and economic studies, reviewing of contract specifications and estimating labor, materials and construction costs of projects. Analyze Cooperative material inventory and prepare purchase order requisitions when required.
