Job summary

Brazos Electric Power Cooperative seeks a System Technician Supervisor to lead a skilled team responsible for substation equipment maintenance and reliability. You will oversee installation, testing, and repair activities while ensuring safety and compliance across the transmission system.

You will mentor technicians, manage maintenance planning, and coordinate emergencies, all while supporting budgeting, procurement, and the adoption of new testing technologies to improve performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Protection & Controls Technician or related field.
  • Experience installing, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting substation equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices and applicable industry standards.
  • Preferred: Associate degree in Electrical Power Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience with NERC compliance requirements.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of substation & P&C technicians to safely perform installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of substation equipment.
  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of microprocessor-based relays, meters, circuit breakers, reclosers, transformers, regulators, and other substation equipment.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate construction, maintenance, and emergency work activities to meet operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with NERC, ERCOT, and company standards, including scheduling required relay testing and maintaining regulatory records.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance databases, asset management documentation, and department administrative functions.
  • Assist with department budgeting, equipment procurement, and evaluation of new technologies and testing equipment.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal departments, member cooperatives, contractors, and industry partners.

Brazos Electric Cooperative provides transmission and distribution services for 16 Texas electric co-ops whose service territory extends across 68 counties from the Texas Panhandle to Houston. As a System Technician Supervisor , you'll lead a skilled team responsible for maintaining the critical substation equipment that powers our transmission system. What You'll Do

As the System Technician Supervisor, you'll oversee the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of substation electrical equipment while leading a team of talented substation and P&C technicians. You'll ensure equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and safe work practices while helping develop the next generation of technical professionals.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Power Technology or equivalent technical program.
  • Experience with NERC compliance requirements and ERCOT metering standards.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring technical personnel.
