Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical hardware focusing on power electronics and analog or mixed-signal circuits.
• Create schematics, select components, perform circuit analysis and support PCB layout.
• Bring up prototype boards, troubleshoot faults and refine designs through bench testing.
• Plan and execute functional, environmental and qualification testing with test engineers.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve build quality and reliability.
• Maintain design documentation, BOMs and revision records.
• Translate product requirements into practical engineering solutions and simplify where possible.
• Support technical reviews and mentor junior engineers as experience allows.

Electrical Design Engineer – Aerospace & Defense

$105,000 – $200,000 + equity (Dependent On Experience)

Strativ Group is partnered with a growing aerospace and defense company developing critical hardware for commercial and military applications. With strong financial backing, the business is expanding its engineering team to support new product development and increased production.

They are seeking Electrical Design Engineers at all levels to take ownership of hardware from initial design through testing and qualification. This is an opportunity to join a hands-on team, contribute to key design decisions and see your work through into production.

Overview

This role sits at the core of the engineering team, focused on designing new electrical hardware that expands the company's product catalog. You will take full ownership of your designs, from first schematic and prototype bring-up through environmental qualification and into production.

This role works closely across design, test and manufacturing, with hardware that ships onto real commercial and military aircraft programs.

Scope is calibrated to experience, so we welcome applications from early-career through to principal level.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical hardware, with a focus on power electronics, power supplies and analog or mixed-signal circuits.
• Create schematics, select components, carry out circuit analysis and support PCB layout.
• Bring up prototype boards, troubleshoot faults and refine designs through practical bench testing.
• Work with test engineers to plan and carry out functional, environmental and qualification testing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve build quality, reliability and ease of production.
• Maintain clear design documentation, bills of materials and revision records.
• Translate product requirements into practical engineering solutions, questioning unnecessary complexity.
• Support technical reviews and, depending on experience, mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Practical electrical hardware design experience appropriate to your level, from junior through principal.
• A sound understanding of circuit fundamentals, particularly analog electronics or power circuits.
• Experience with schematic design, component selection and circuit simulation.
• Confidence using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters to test and debug hardware.
• A methodical approach to troubleshooting and the ability to explain your design decisions.
• Willingness to work hands-on through development, testing and production.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and take responsibility for your work.

Preferred Experience

• Power electronics, switching converters or power supply design.
• Analog circuit design or mixed-signal development with a substantial hardware focus.
• Thermal analysis, EMI/EMC analysis, design or testing.
• PCB/PCBA development, wire harness design or electrical test fixtures.
• Avionics hardware testing or automated electrical test development.
• Environmental qualification standards such as DO-160 or relevant MIL-STD requirements.
• Aerospace, defense or other industries where hardware reliability is critical.
