My client is a growing aerospace & defense technology company developing advanced hardware for next-generation space and national security applications. Their multidisciplinary engineering teams design, build, integrate, and test complex systems in-house, giving engineers significant ownership from early architecture through working flight hardware.
Position Overview
We’re seeking a hands‑on Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer to own complex electronics from circuit design and PCB development through bring-up, integration, debugging, and test. This is a senior-level IC role suited for an engineer with strong analog/digital fundamentals, end-to-end PCBA ownership, and deeper expertise in at least one specialized electrical domain.
Responsibilities
- Own electrical hardware from circuit design through PCB layout, fabrication, bring-up, integration, and test.
- Lead architecture and design decisions; design and debug mixed analog and digital electronics using Altium or similar tools.
- Conduct design reviews and provide hands‑on technical guidance to other engineers.
- Partner across firmware, software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, suppliers, and test.
- Balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, thermal constraints, supply chain, cost, and schedule.
- Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for hardware issues found during development and test.
- Improve electrical design processes, tools, and engineering practices as the organization scales.
Qualifications
- M.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 3-5+ years of hands‑on electrical hardware development experience.
- Strong fundamentals in complex analog and digital circuit design.
- Proven ownership of PCBAs from schematic + layout through fabrication, bring‑up, debug, and validation.
- Advanced expertise in at least one area such as power electronics, RF, FPGA systems, high-speed digital, or motor control.
- Strong experience with Altium or similar ECAD tools, PCB fabrication/assembly, and electrical lab equipment.
- Experience driving technical decisions and mentoring engineers in fast‑moving, cross‑functional environments.
- Prior full‑time experience within an early‑stage hardware startup.
