Job description

Leading multi-disciplinary team is looking for an Electrical Department Manager for their Detroit team!

Responsibilities:

1. Manage department and collaborate with Project Managers on projects across various sectors (Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional).
2. Prepare discipline-specific work plans and estimates.
3. Oversee work production and ensure projects meet QA/QC standards.
4. Supervise staff, ensuring project performance metrics and department goals are achieved.
5. Communicate with clients to manage expectations.
6. Provide technical support.
7. Maintain backlogs and manpower forecasts for proper staffing and department utilization.
8. Manage staff resources, including annual reviews, timesheets, expense approvals, and professional development.
9. Assist with recruitment and training.
10. Participate in business development activities, including involvement in trade organizations.
11. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. 8+ years of electrical design and project management consulting experience.
3. Professional Engineer (PE) license.
4. Experience with electrical system studies (short circuit, over-current device coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard analysis per NFPA 70E).
5. Knowledge of Electrical Code (NEC), State Energy Code, NFPA guidelines, and FGI guidelines.
6. Proficiency with design/analysis software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Easypower.
7. Understanding of standard construction practices.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
