Job summary

Electrical Automation Services seeks a hands-on Controls Technician for on-site work in Elgin, IL. You will install, configure and service photo eyes, sensors, PLC I/O modules and wiring across a 3‑phase power environment.

You will diagnose and repair analog/digital controls, program PLCs and HMIs, and modify ladder logic. Experience with Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet is valued for preventive maintenance of conveyors and robotics.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated experience working with PLCs.
Experience with packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Familiarity with safety procedures (lockout/tagout) preferred.
Experience reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting servo systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Install, configure and troubleshoot photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC I/O modules and related wiring.
Troubleshoot analog and digital controls with 480V 3-phase power, motors, VFDs, servo drives and soft starts.
Maintain and troubleshoot encoders and load cells; program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI interfaces.
Modify ladder logic; adjust PLC control systems and graphic HMIs.
Troubleshoot communication protocols (Profibus, serial, industrial Ethernet).
Diagnose equipment issues from electrical schematics; perform preventive maintenance on laser guided vehicles and conveyors.
