Job summary

Liebherr USA Co. in Newport News, Virginia, seeks an Electrical Control System Technician to support product development in software and hardware.

You will fabricate electrical and mechanical prototypes, pilot runs, and assist in defining standards for interfaces and parameterization. Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training in repair and maintenance of construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product/Software Design engineering for electrical and mechanical projects to support development and advancement of Liebherr concrete technology.
• Fabricate prototypes, pilot runs of electrical/mechanical prototypes for testing and product development/robustness solutions.
• Conduct time studies, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve products and manufacturing flow.
• Design and build custom tools and devices to improve production processes and support daily operations.
• Identify, evaluate, and specify tools, equipment, and technologies to improve task execution in production.
• Oversee the fabrication, testing, and implementation of new procedures to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues and propose actionable solutions.
• Support engineering changes and participate in implementation of design revisions into production.
• Evaluate new components and suppliers for suitability and cost-effectiveness within design specifications.
• Interpret and update technical drawings, wiring schematics, and 3D models to assist in accurate assembly and modification.
• Program a variety of devices, create standards for parameterization.
• Support and train production personnel to ensure finished good execution.
• Provide on-site or remote technical assistance to troubleshoot, repair, or adjust equipment.
• Perform on-site or in-house equipment assembly, upgrades, and modifications as directed by supervisor/engineering team.
• Operate equipment to troubleshoot machine problems and evaluate correctness and completeness of repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of LMT’s workshop and warehouse areas.
• Handle and properly dispose of hazardous wastes, such as oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, parts cleaning solvents, and similar materials.
• Complete and submit all required reports and documentation correctly and in a timely manner.

Education
