Johnson Matthey Plc is seeking an Electrical Controls Graduate Engineer for its Graduate Engineering Program. You will develop engineered solutions for production improvements, commission new equipment, and optimize maintenance while learning in a mentored, chartered-engineer path.

The role emphasizes leadership development, collaboration across teams, and adherence to JM processes to drive continuous improvement in energy, water, waste and emissions metrics.

We currently looking for an Electrical Controls Graduate Engineer at Johnson Matthey in our Graduate Engineering Program (GEP) as part of the Group Engineering function. The GEP supports the key capabilities of our business and the rapid professional progression of future engineers. Graduates on the GEP will undergo various technical and leadership development while completing high-priority business projects. They will be assigned a mentor to support progress towards Chartered Engineer status. At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. You’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern society and enhancing lives - as we continue to apply, refine and recycle metals that matter, for a healthier and more resilient future.

The role:

• Develop and implement engineered solutions for production improving safety, sustainability performance, and reliability
• Commission new plant equipment and develop/deliver training for operators
• Mechanical and maintenance optimization
• Electrical AC Power Systems, Motors and Drives, Control Instrumentation and Grounding systems
• Implement standardized JM processes to drive continuous improvement toward goals
• Energy, water, waste and emission monitoring to drive sustainability opportunities

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Process Controls Engineering or similar field (Minimum 3.2 GPA)
• Must be geographically flexible and have a desire to relocate to any JM site for three placements for the duration of the development program and first role following the end of the program.
• Relocation assistance is provided to those who geographically qualify as determined by placements
• Demonstrated leadership skills and a true career aspiration to lead others is essential; must be adaptable, strive for excellence, and demonstrate a positive attitude in the face of adversity
• Strong interpersonal skills a must, coupled with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships to achieve results

Start date: September 2027 – Global Induction in the UK Assessment Centre - November 2026 (In person)
